A new 3D channel is in the works?

According to recent reports, Sky has grand plans for the next 12 months as it has been hinted that a new 3D channel is in the works. Although this has not been confirmed, it has been whispered that the split into two 3D channels is due primarily due to the growing number of 3D programs that the provider has access to. In the last year Sky 3D has been heavily promoting tridimensional sports programmes, pushing other content such as movies and documentaries…

Ferocious and emotional: Safari Park Adventure 3D

The 3DTVwatcher team was very excited to see Safari Park Adventure 3D for two reasons: we love animals and we love 3D. But you already knew the latter. We’ve been treated to both – we’ve spoken to the staff working at the Woburn Safari Park for ages and we would probably have never stopped, had we not heard the office calling us to come back. But let’s talk about Sky’s 3D series. Very much like Meerkats 3D, the…

The Lion King 3D is not half as daft as it sounds

This week, I set aside an hour and half and two bags of microwave popcorn at home to preview The Lion King 3D. In my mind, taking a hand-drawn, critically acclaimed Disney animation and transforming it into a 3D film seemed rather unnecessary. I was both sceptical and quite unexcited at the prospect. I have long considered that animation changed forever, for the better, with the release of titles such as the Toy Story saga. Digitally produced animation has been my preference since its introduction because of the…
