More 3D Apple patenting action. Recent reports have confirmed that the tech giant has recently snatched the patents necessary to create an app which would allow users to make their own tridimensional avatars.
According to watchdogs, the app might be a compliment to 3D gaming software rather than a standalone feature. Patently Apple reported that the plan was to make use of these after the construction and rollout of “movable” tridimensional and holographic screens.
Referring to the next-gen screens, Patently Apple explained:
“Apple…

Will the next iPhone have a camera that can take 3D stills, videos and even 3D images that you can rotate?
A patent dug up by Patently Apple shows a design involving two cameras and an imaging processing unit, which will allow users to take 3D images.
The camera could be used to take several images of the same object, from different angles, to create a 3D model in the phone. This can then be rotated and viewed by the user.
One of the ideas for the patent…

More good news comes from the sphere of 3D printing with firms cooking up more uses for the invention. Previously, tridimensional printing was used on chocolate, bones and a superfast way to print small objects in was also created.
With Vibe, which is a fresh and new iPhone app, users can print 3D cases based on their musical preferences.
In more detail, the application will allow smartie owners to select a song, the wavelength of…

3D without using glasses is becoming a goal for many companies and Apple is one of them. The tech giant has just patented a method of viewing 3D without the use of glasses or a stereoscopic display.
There is already an app on the Apple store called i3D which involves the use of the front facing camera, which tracks the movement of the user’s face, particularly their eyes.
Apple’s patent goes further than that, using data provided by the devices accelerometer, compass, gyrometer…

According to recent reports, Apple is very keen on bringing a third dimension to the interfaces of its handsets.
Another plan is to make the iOS capable of responding to hand gestures, just like Siri is responding to a user’s voice.
A few sources suggested that Apple has recently bought a 3D User Interface patent for its next-gen devices which would include a so-called proximity censor with the ability to respond to movement and gestures.
However this is not the only 3D patent Apple owns, in fact it…

Apple got its hands on a patent for a rather ambitious project yesterday as the Patent Office opened the doors for the tech giant to develop 3D recognition software.
The technology will allow to identify 3D models of faces, tumours, vehicles and animals.
It will also be able to create a 3D picture of a face by scanning a photograph of the person in question.
The model could then be used to identify someone.
The technique is also accurate enough to be used to model organs and tumours within…

Technology giant Apple may add a very nifty feature to its product range in the future.
It has come to light that the company filed for a patent which explored the possibility of operating Macs, iPads or iPhones through 3D movement, or to be more precise, by using ‘hands off’ control to access a device.
Apple says that because of the portable nature of many of its products, immediate access to a host computer may not always be possible. This means that there is a need to…

We’ve been waiting for a long time for Apple to do something with 3D. Well, we’ve got it. Apple’s newest navigation system is going to be complimented by the tridimensional format.
In more detail, the tech giant confirmed that it was the buyer of C3 Technologies which was sold for a mysterious amount of money back in summer this year.
Oh, but it gets more eerie. According to recent reports, it was an undisclosed source who leaked the news that the Swedish company has been working on…

Apple’s latest iOS5 will be able to support 3D web browsing, however it will only be available for iAD developers.
iOS5 will come with WebGL support, which makes iPhones 3D-compatible.
Access to the format support will only be available through Apple’s iAD platform instead of being available to everyone.
WebGL became the official standard for the 3D script in March.
In order to be able to use it you need a web browser which supports WebGL, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, and a device with the right…
