It’s back in the headlines! The world’s most recent 3D sensation is back in the news, with the Chinese adult film Sex and Zen 3D: Extreme Ecstasy about to land on North American shores.
The film caused a stir, in more ways than one, in China recently, where thousands of eager viewers flocked form the mainland to Hong Kong and Taiwan to see the film that wasn’t shown on the mainland due to classification issues.
Much hype has surrounded the film due to its graphic nature, and…

The adult industry is a surprising benchmark for a great many entertainment phenomena. HD, and in earlier years, VHS were all acid tested by the lucrative industry, but it is more often the case, especially in the post-internet age, that the industry never sees the money.
Such concerns were raised at the 3D TV World Forum this week in London where Gregory Dorcel, CEO of Dorcel3D, spoke about the failure of the porn industry to turn tridimensional content into a healthy profit.
Dorcel3D is a purveyor of such content, but…

Chinese 3D porn flick Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy has induced outrage, hype and generated huge profits with its release in Hong Kong and Taiwan last month, and now it looks as though the success will be replicated elsewhere.
Audiences flocked to see the tridimensional porn film in unrestricted areas due to the rating system in place in mainland China, but now it seems New Zealand is going to get a (metaphorical) taste of what the film is all about.
The film has beaten off stiff competition…

It’s grabbing headlines, stirring audiences and it’s set to do it all again, as a sequel to Sex and Zen 3D: Extreme Ecstasy looks to be on the cards.
The film, which has been banned in mainland China, is going nuts in Hong Kong and Taiwan where audiences are flocking to see the lude action in stereoscopic 3D.
The box office is swelling as well as the crowds, and depending on how this continues, a second film could follow the 3D flick that…

We recently reported on the furore about Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy, a 3D porn film that is causing more than just a ripple of disapproval in China.
The film has been banned on the mainland, with many excited viewers flocking to Hong Kong to see the film which must give a new meaning to immersive.
3DTVWatcher is all for reviews, but this is one film we won’t be watching any time soon.
Something that should be seen however, is the wonderful animated documentation of the film’s reception.

Porn has been one area where 3D has been slowly but surely adopted, with Penthouse launching the first trans-Europe adult entertainment channel earlier this year.
It didn’t take long for the porn spoofers to get their hands on James Cameron’s Avatar either, with This Ain’t Avatar, an erotic spoof of the 3D blockbuster, already in the making.
One film is causing quite a furore in China however, and not only due to it being in 3D.
Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy is a new…

Purveyors of pornography are getting in on the act, the 3D act that is, with Penthouse the latest adult publication and TV channel to bring adult entertainment into a third dimension.
It seems that 3D is attracting glances from the adult entertainment industry which are coming to something, with Penthouse 3D the latest offering for those so inclined, and with the necessary hardware.
In a tactful and disappointingly pun-free press release, Marc Bell of Friend Finder Networks said:
“We are very excited…

… And not much else, at least according to artist David Hockney. Perhaps the artist has only ever seen Resident Evil: Afterlife to justify his negativity, and Piranha 3D to justify his claim of 3D’s limited merits, if you could call them such.
In an interview with Bryan Appleyard for The Sunday Times Culture magazine, Hockney spoke about his art and how he is embracing new technology, with much of his work created on the iPad.
3D however, is not…

When it’s a matter of a new technological development coming onto the market, one can say the case has usually been that if the porn industry has done it, the rest will follow.
It’s already happened with things like online payments, secure web browsing and switching to high-definition video, Blu-ray and DVD.
Will it be the same with 3D?
“Just because you can doesn’t mean you should,” said chief operating officer at Digital Playground, Farley Cahen, at the 2011 Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas.
The porn studio…
