Surf through storms with Sky 3D

Call me close minded (You are close minded) but I thought that Storm Surfers 3D would be about some young guys who decided to have fun one summer and do some mean surfing. I also thought that I would hear the phrases “woah dude” and “totally radical” at least two hundred times within a single episode. How wrong I was.

There wasn’t any “surfer lingo” in the 3D series, the men weren’t college grads looking for quick thrills either – these men were professional surfers, who rode the most heart-stopping and dangerous waves on the planet.

The 3D format certainly added to the experience – as a viewer, I found myself saying “this is insane” at least ten times. That’s how frightened I was of what was just a normal activity for Australian surfing legends Ross Clarke-Jones and Tom Carroll.

John Cassy, Sky 3D’s channel director commented:

“Storm Surfers 3D provides a thrilling and inspiring cinematic experience and makes for fascinating viewing, showing it’s not all about calling ‘surf’s up’.

“In the course of four episodes, the duo conquer giant swells across Australia and transport the viewer under and over and through waves using spectacular 3D technology bought to life with Sky 3D.”

I bow to the men who place themselves into the mouth of madness and come out victorious, positive and smiling. The adrenaline and the feelings they experience must be stronger than any drugs known to mankind. It must be all worth it.

Keep your eyes peeled for Storm Surfers 3D this September on Sky 3D.
