Spielberg to test both 2D and 3D for Robopocalypse

Anyone excited about Spielberg’s upcoming flick, Robopocalypse? 3DTVwatcher sure is. Based on Daniel H. Wilson’s book, the film is going to paint a picture of how our world might look like after an uprising of artificial intelligence – robots.

But wait, there is more. Recent rumours suggested that Spielberg was playing around with the idea of shooting the film in all three dimensions.

The famous director was quoted as saying by Yahoo!:

“I’m going to do an IMAX camera test, [both] a 2 and 3D test for my next movie ‘Robopocalypse,’ and I haven’t decided whether I’m going to use the IMAX cameras, and I haven’t decided whether it’s going to be 2D or 3D yet, but I am in September going to start doing some tests.”

The quote suggests that 3D enthusiasts should not get overly excited just yet – a 3D version might never surface after all.

However, more and more flicks are being rolled out in three dimensions, the line up includes The Great Gatsby 3D, two more sequels of the Avatar Saga as well as celebrity-centric movies among many others. Perhaps Spielberg too has caught the 3D bug?
