LG has announced the launch of a new Smart TV game portal dubbed Game World as the company looks to push the realms of 3D TV further and entice people into the world of 3D.
The system has been developed exclusively for LG’s Cinema 3D Smart TV range and will allow users to easily search, purchase, and play game apps, in both 2D and 3D.
Havis Kwon, CEO of the LG Home Entertainment Company, said in a statement:
“Game World is a wonderful source of games–especially 3D games –which are suitable for everyone.”
Kwon emphasised that LG wished to make the most out of LG 3D TVs and was adamant that Game World would allow the company to “push the boundaries of 3D gaming and expand the market.”
He also promised that many popular titles would be developed and made exclusively for LG Cinema 3D Smart TVs.
The portal’s main menu also allows users to see game recommendations from LG in the Featured tab or check which games are popular in the paid and free charts under the Top Chart tab.
The main menu also has New and Genre sections allowing users to search games by category such as action, adventure or sports games in the latter.
Many of the games will also be playable with the LG Magic Remote and a tutorial on the main menu will help users get to grips with it.
The game portal will be released globally in September.
