Curry’s have slashed a total of £500 off a 3DTV package in the build up to Christmas in the hope that it will lure the reluctant in to going 3D. Surveys have indicated that 3DTVs are currently not high on peoples shopping list, but with offers such as this the balance of many people’s indecision could be in favour of that exciting 3D expenditure! The bundle includes the all important TV, a 1080p Samsung 50C680, a 3D Blu-ray player, and three sets of Samsung 3D specs. The Samsung set is a whopping 50″ so regardless of the 3D capability it represents a good deal for a prospective new TV buyer, and 3DTVWatcher can only assume that this is their tactic to encourage 3D hardware and Blu-ray sales.
Curry’s offer will potentially interest thousands of buyers whilst also forcing the hand of other major UK electronics retailers, because they would not only be competing on the 3D front, but on the TV one as well such is the generous nature of the bargain. The quality of content has until now been the major talking point where 3D is concerned, and how many people will deem it worth the money, so it comes as a welcome change in direction that a hardware offer might be a decisive factor in consumer decision making.
Come Christmas time there might well be more families sat around the TV in 3D glasses if this offer is anything to go by, and especially if the likes of Comet follow suit. At such a ridiculous price the package is almost a no-brainer, and we expect Currys to be shifting a lot of the 3D packages over the coming months. Lets hope UK consumers see the value in the deal, because 3D will most definately benefit from offers such as this, and if they are willing to part with the money; so will the consumers.
