I doesn’t say anywhere in the story that this indeed was the first one. Mr Youssif said that the partnership between High TV 3D & YahLive resulted in a sole general interest channel to broadcast 3D 24/7.

You are free to assume that it is made up. The study was presented a few days ago during a conference in Baltimore.

That still doesn’t answer the question – where is the link to the results so we can judge whether this was a scientifically-rigorous trial or something made up by a PR department? Without the link, people SHOULD assume it’s made up, because scientists don’t hide their data and like to be peer-reviewed. Any science story, anywhere, which doesn’t come with a link to the data isn’t a real science story, whether it supports or refutes your own beliefs.

In any 3D TV manual you may find that there is a warning or two that the format might make people feel uncomfortable, dizzy, cause headaches etc.

This was a joint university study which based its findings solely on those 140 epilepsy-prone children – these are not national nor absolutely correct stats but merely a step in that direction, so I would not see it as an “entirely made-up press release” but just a study conducted by scholars hinting that grander research is needed.
