The ye olde ways of using plastic and plasters when recreating ancient fossils are long gone – 3D is the solution these days.
The University of Drexel has yesterday shared the details on its planned venture with the tridimensional format. It plans to use 3D printing to recreate the structure of the bones which once belonged to long-gone dinosaurs.
The project will make a further step too – based on the tridimensional models of skeletons, the researchers plan to build miniatures of gigantic dinos that once roamed…

3D without using glasses is becoming a goal for many companies and Apple is one of them. The tech giant has just patented a method of viewing 3D without the use of glasses or a stereoscopic display.
There is already an app on the Apple store called i3D which involves the use of the front facing camera, which tracks the movement of the user’s face, particularly their eyes.
Apple’s patent goes further than that, using data provided by the devices accelerometer, compass, gyrometer…

Getting into 3D technology can be an expensive task with 3D TVs and computer screens sometimes costing double that of the traditional 2D electronics. Now, however, a company has come up with a solution to the 3D woes with a screen that can be fitted over a laptop.
Spatial View has come up with a 15.6-incher called 3DeeScreen which was designed to be fitted over laptops using Windows 7. Once a special program is installed, 3D games and movies can be…

An American company, IEE, has announced that it will be bringing 3D advertising to retailers.
IEE has expanded the use of 3D so that it can be used in pole and sale displays as well as in retail advertising, just like in sci-fi movies.
The 3D technology it has developed does not involve 3D glasses, instead it uses autostereoscopic film which provides 3D images that are similar to the ones in Nintendo 3DS.
Steve Motter, the vice president of development for IEE, was quoted…

According to recent reports, Apple is very keen on bringing a third dimension to the interfaces of its handsets.
Another plan is to make the iOS capable of responding to hand gestures, just like Siri is responding to a user’s voice.
A few sources suggested that Apple has recently bought a 3D User Interface patent for its next-gen devices which would include a so-called proximity censor with the ability to respond to movement and gestures.
However this is not the only 3D patent Apple owns, in fact it…

While you were thinking that the demise of the 3D format is upon us, market research specialist, NPD DisplaySearch, dares us to think again
It has calculated that instead of going down, the number of 3D LCD television shipments continues to grow at a rather car race like pace.
The firm has found that from Q2 to Q3 the number of 3D TVs shipped increased by almost a third (27 per cent) while tech giants predict that the time between the third…

A team of scientists from the Washington State University (WSU), have spotted yet another use for 3D in the wonderful sphere of medicine.
They have developed a 3D printer to recreate human bones.
The device, dubbed “the 3D bone printer”, makes use of material which is thinner than the width of human hair.
The Imation bone substance, which took the team four years to develop, can then be used as a “bridge” or scaffold to repair the bone.
To make the scaffolding shapes, the team customised a printer which…
