An American company, IEE, has announced that it will be bringing 3D advertising to retailers.

IEE has expanded the use of 3D so that it can be used in pole and sale displays as well as in retail advertising, just like in sci-fi movies.

The 3D technology it has developed does not involve 3D glasses, instead it uses autostereoscopic film which provides 3D images that are similar to the ones in Nintendo 3DS.

Steve Motter, the vice president of development for IEE, was quoted as saying:

“With the increased amount of 3D content being produced in the entertainment and gaming industries, delivering this imagery without special glasses opens a whole new world for retailers.”

“It’s a natural progression to incorporate this 3D technology into retail displays to give consumers useful information, such as videos, complementary products and detailed specifications. Our goal is to give the viewer a better user experience on the best imaging platform available.”

Examples of where this type of advertising could be utilised include amusement parks and cinemas, where films and games can be advertised in 3D.
